Alliant Subsidiary purchases Riverside Energy Center From Calpine

In the press release issued on 18 May 2012, Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL), a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corporation (NYSE:LNT), announced that it exercised its option to purchase Riverside Energy Center, LLC, from Calpine Corporation (NYSE:CPN). This transaction took place subsequent to the approval of the purchase by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW). The deal is worth USD 392 million, and is subject to further approval by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Post the purchase of the company.
The company, Wisconsin Power and Light (WPL), is interested in retaining the current employees of Riverside for smooth ownership and operating transition.

In the 10Q document filed by Visa Inc with the SEC on 2nd May 2012, the company has divulged that it had received a Civil Investigative Demand (CID) on March 13, 2012 from the U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ), which sought documents and information pertaining to possible violation by Visa of Section 1 or 2 of the Sherman Act (antitrust law), 15 U.S.C. 1, 2. The CID was issued by the DoJ on March 13, 2012. Through the CID, the DoJ is seeking information on Visa's PIN-authenticated debit card products and its Fixed Acquirer Network Fee.
